CCZ to Partner with ONEHOPE Featured

The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has accepted to partner with One Hope with a view of working together in spreading the word of God to all children in Zambia aged between four (4) and fourteen (14) years old.

Formerly called Book of Hope and founded in 1987 by former missionary and Life Publishers President Bob Hoskins, One Hope is an international ministry based in Pompano Beach, Florida.

It is working in over 100 countries to present a biblical message of hope to children and youth through age and culturally specific programs which include children’s magazines, storytelling, animated movies, interactive games, sports programs, smartphone apps and more.

CCZ General Secretary Fr Emmanuel Chikoya has confirmed that he had a meeting with One Hope Southern Africa Regional Director Brian Esterhuizen on Monday the 23rd of July where the two organisations agreed to partner and work together in reaching out to Children in Zambia aged between the ages of four and fourteen.

Fr Chikoya says One Hope chose to target children because the word of God can easily be planted in children unlike in adults.

He says the coming on board of One Hope as a CCZ partner has excited the Council because it is looking for resources and partners to work with.

He says One Hope has got the resources and expertise to help the Council empower its member churches while CCZ plays the role of facilitating and equipping the churches that are members of the Council for effective ministry.

Fr Chikoya says CCZ profile fits well in One Hope’s profile in that the latter’s approach is to find an entity that is non-denominational and CCZ is one such entity.

He says through CCZ’s membership the Council will be able to ensure that children get reached with the word of God.

“Our affiliate organisations such as the Girls Brigade, Boys Brigade and Girl Guides among the many will have relevant resources for use in addition to their own materials to use thereby enhancing their ministry to the young girls and boys,” he said.

Fr Chikoya says the partnership which will be launched publicly will come into force once the process of developing the MoU is done.

He says by this partnership CCZ will be fulfilling its role as a facilitator of holistic ministry through its commitment to the nation.

“Once that is done we will launch it publicly and have it put to use so that children are reached with the word of God.  One Hope will provide resources such as materials which are already developed and contextualised. CCZ on the other hand will facilitate by providing storage facilities and will convene its members so that this resource is rolled out. So for us this is a step in the right direction and are looking forward to sooner than later ensure that this MoU is signed and actively become partners,” he said.

Working with churches, partner ministries, local governments, schools and non-governmental organizations, One Hope has reached more than one billion children with a relevant presentation of God’s Word.

The organization also conducts research in 44 countries around the world to gain insight into children’s daily lives, faith, cultural influences and values.
