The African Methodist Episcopal Conference Church (AMEC) a member of the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has re-assigned Bishop  Rt Rev Dr Wilfred Jacobus Messiah to superintend over the affairs of AMEC.

In a congratulatory announcement issued by the Bishop’s Administrative Secretary Rev Cosmas Wakunguma South East Zambia Annual Conference, the Bishop has been re-assigned with his wife Mrs Carol Isabella Messiah  as supervisor.

The two have been re-assigned to the 17th Episcopal District for a four year term of 2016-2020. This follows their successful previous four year period of labour in the 17th Episcopal District from July 2012-July 2016.

As Bishop of the 17th Episcopal District Rt Messiah is superintending over six countries namely Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Congo DRC, Congo Brazzaville and Zambia with twelve conferences.

Rev Wakunguma described the development as  a blessing to the AME Church specifically the 17th Episcopal District Zambia in particular.

“We  therefore embrace and celebrate their return to our district with joy even as we congratulate them”, Rev Wakunguma said.

The re-assignment came after the successful conclusion of the 50th Quadrennial  General Conference   of AMEC held from 6th -13 July in Philadelphia-Pennsylvania in USA.

Rev Wakunguma said as a member of the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) under the leadership of Dr Messiah , AMEC was looking forward to yet another warm and cordial spirit filled work relationship with the entire CCZ hierarchy.
