The church has been thanked for the love and support shown to the first family following the death of His Excellence President Michael Chilufya Sata. In a published message marking one month of his passing, former first lady Dr Christine Kaseba acknowledged the assistant rendered by the church. “We wish to acknowledge the assistance rendered by the church through the three church mother bodies, the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) the Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) and the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ),” Dr Kaseba said. Dr Kaseba said although the family dearly misses him, they are comforted knowing that the prayers and spiritual support from the Zambian people continues with the family as they face life ahead without him. She stated that the sympathy and acts of kindness that the entire country extended towards the first family during the time of loss has been a great source of comfort and strength for the children and the entire family. She added that time may have stood still for the family but they are assured that that his spirit lives on forever in their hearts and that the late President’s legacy will always be a crystal clear one, the epitome of patriotism, self-sacrifice, wisdom and courage. Dr Kaseba also acknowledged the assistance rendered by the Acting Republican president Dr Guy Scott and Dr Charlotte Scott, former heads of state, traditional leaders, the patriotic front (PF), opposition political parties, the media, government officials, state house staff, family and friends among others. She noted that that solidarity and unity shown by the people during that period continue to bind the family and the people together as one.
